Dream Diary (Part 1)

Dear Diary,

I had a really… vivid dream today. And the weird thing is, I remember it so well that it might as well have been a memory. It was one of those lucid dreams where I knew that I was dreaming. It was so bizarre.

But honestly? It was kind of interesting too. So, I have decided to write it down here so that I can revisit it if I forget it. I have always been addicted to good storylines, after all.

So… I woke up in this village-like place with a severe headache. And they say dreams aren’t painful! The village itself wasn’t much. Just a dozen or so houses surrounding this really huge tree. As expected of a town so small, everyone knew literally everyone. When I woke up, I was greeted by the village medic. He wasn’t some licensed doctor though. I was pretty sure of that. But as soon as he ran a feather across my forehead, the pain suddenly disappeared. Was he supposed to me a magician? I wonder…

Anyway… so apparently, I had been crashing the place of the village’s chief and when he came to greet me, he was extremely polite. Not the kind and caring kind of polite. The politeness you get as someone who is supposed to be a revered hero or something. So of course, I was surprised when he introduced his twin daughters to me and told me that they would help me as I recovered from my injuries. The girls could have been no more than ten, hiding behind their father’s back.

I soon realized it was indeed a fantasy setting. The girls led me to their room and introduced themselves as Myra and Anne. They told me to wait, they were bringing me fresh clothes. I inspected the ones I was wearing and apparently, I was wearing a leather armour and my clothes under them looked like they had been drenched and had dried on my body itself. I pulled at the parts that had stuck to my skin as a result and waited for the girls to return.

As soon as they came back, they told me that I was in serious need of a bath and pushed me into a washroom. I inspected the area and noticed a wooden tub filled to the brim with hot water. A hot bath, huh? I thought. I peeled off my clothes and was just about to enter the tub when I noticed my reflection in the water. It was definitely my face. The same eyes, the same nose. But my hair… my hair was fiery red and tied into a waist-long braid behind my back.

Apparently, I had dyed my hair in this dream. I sighed and loosened the braid before dipping into the tub. I soaked in the water for about fifteen minutes when one of the girls called me, stating that dinner was ready. I slipped into the white cotton dress that they had given to me and followed their little voices to a dining room. I was just wondering why the entire village had gathered there when one of the girls served me a plate of meat.

“Revered one. You need to help us.” I remember chuckling to the way they addressed me. Had I been reading too many fantasy novels?

They went on to explain how their village had been plagued by monsters for the longest time and they needed someone as strong as her to solve the problem.  I squinted my eye and told them I couldn’t just wipe out an entire forest full of monsters. Then they explained how destroying the monsters’ hideout would do the job. So I listened to them and defeated them. It was pretty tough though. And for some reason I actually remember tiring out because of it. And my body was definitely not built for it. I left as soon as I defeated about five… goblins?

The villagers seemed ecstatic though. Apparently, that was the most anyone had accomplished in ages. Then I went to sleep in the dream and woke up in real life. Why do I feel so mentally exhausted though?
